Atholl
Estates Open Day
On
May 13th West Atholl Rifle Club held an Open Day
for Atholl Estates. The Club has always been grateful
for the co-operation of the Estate Trustees and staff.
Our activities, particularly when shooting at long
range, can inconvenience those who live and work
on the estate. This was a chance for us to explain
what we do and to say thank you, while providing
a short break from the hard work of running a highland
estate.
13 people associated with the Estate attended the range in perfect
weather- hot and sunny, with a gentle breeze. After a short talk
on full-bore rifle shooting, a demonstration of the prone position
by our resident male model and Hon. Sec., and some superb refreshments
provided by Alice, they each shot 2+10 at 500 yards, coached by
members. Peter Hunt kindly allowed each guest to take a few shots
with his F Class rifle, and James Bell did likewise with his Match
rifle. All guests enjoyed themselves and some good shots were made.
Thanks to those who helped on the day : Alice Conder-Lang, Alastair
Munro, Richard Scott, Peter Hunt, James Bell, Iain Conacher, Adam
Macpherson and David Wildridge

rifle. Ronnie has put one on his wish-list - provided
one of the younger keepers carries it. |

Richard Fraser bravely tries Richard Scott's rifle with
sling only-and puts up a good score, helped by the chairman's
old jacket, which shrank severely some years ago. |
