Lochboisdale Match

22nd September 2019

The Match was between two teams again this year, West Atholl and West of Scotland Rifle Clubs. Team size was best six from all of those shooting. The day started off at 500 yards in the dry with very light winds, resulting in some very high scores from both teams. West Atholl best six made a score of 426.42v against a West of Scotland score of 433.45v Scores of 75.8 and 75.11 being made by M.Barton (WA) and J.Potter (WOS). West Atholl score included one unfortunate cross shot, in the bull of course, as is traditional.

As we moved back to 600 yards a few spots of rain began to fall, giving an indication of what was to came. Gazebos were erected and the first few completed their shoot in the dry. Later the heavens opened and there were several very heavy showers. Luckily the Gazebos were in place so no harm done.

At 600, West Atholl kept all their shots on the correct target and made a score of 430.35v High scorer at 600 was Euan Munro with 74.13v. Some of the West of Scotland team slipped a bit at 600 but the team managed to recover to make a score of 429.46v. High scorer at 600 was Claire Halleran with 75.11v.

The final result was a narrow win for West of Scotland with a total of 862.91v against a West Atholl total of 856.77v.

The West Atholl Captain kindly donated two bottles of whisky to be won by the competitors with the highest Vee count. These were won by Euan Munro and Ronald Scaglione both with 20v.

Thanks are due to all who turned up and especially to those who assisted with range rigging, range officer duties and close down.

Unfortunately the presentation was held in Baithna so was crowded and almost dark so no team photo was possible. Outdoors was rather wet at the time. Last year's photo shows the same team.
